Mathematics classroom
Taught Mathematics for almost four decades
Loved the job but it's a great challenge
Make students like numbers and its derivatives
Common remark "Where can we apply these?"
To make them attentive, got to be subtle
Mathematics-made-simple for less struggle
To be focused and analytical, make this course valuable
But during board work and exams, many feel miserable.
It's puzzling, even simple concepts are rejected
No matter how you explain, some just can't get it
"My brain is not working, can you please repeat?"
This happens many times, teacher has to be discreet.
Joking and lots of laughter in the classroom everyday
With occasional contests where students got to play
They can sit anywhere, knew their names anyway
Lively discussions during problem solving activity.
So Mathematics classes are not all misery
Students exercise their freedom, leadership and authority
Outside the classroom, show the happy-go-lucky version
Strict in the classroom but teacher is a caring person.
In every class, there are some brilliant minds
Smarter than the teacher if you're keen-eyed
Many are average so don't get frustrated
Disappointments arise from probabilistic spread.
Good news, the academic landscape is now changing
Classroom activities and group dynamics are empowering
Curricular paradigm shift and technology are leveraging
Everyone must love Mathematics, instruction is evolving.
