By the Pond
This world is an illusion Like the reflection in the pond. Seemingly beautiful but empty Disappears into the vast beyond. Yet we cling to the material As if real and absolute. Why not seek within Single-minded and resolute.
Thoughts
Beware! Be aware! Thoughts that cloak, thoughts that bare Is it destruction or creation? Or mere fascination? Remember they shape your life Will it be success or strife? Which one shall it be? Only Truth will set you free.
Fighting Idleness
I do not wish to sit idly by Watching as days go by Like automatons in a routine Without breathing in between Toiling their lives away Thinking of coins all day Before I take my last breath Learn skills before my death
Time Off
I will sit with my sadness So I'll remember joy
I will sit with my anger So I'll learn peace
I will sit with my pain So I won't forget love
I will sit with myself And perhaps I'll recall me
Riding with the Wind
I asked the wind to whisk me away Where forest branches rhythmically sway Underneath the stars that glisten like pearls And pillowy clouds like puffs and swirls.
I asked the wind to take me away To a place where I can be quiet all day To that space known only be me Where my heart happily runs free.
Monkeys
Between branches morning rays seep Awakening the garden from deep sleep Silly monkeys titter tatter Atop the fence, non-stop chatter Like minds in frequent unrest At the mercy of the senses' behest Strive to calm the monkey mind Go within and leave the worldly behind
Forgotten
Help me remember The words spoken That calms the mind And forgets all things foreign
Help me remember The words spoken That which fires the heart And lifts our burden
Swimming
Pre-sleep reverie at midnight Recalling the day's delight Basking in sun and water Chilly with a slight shiver Kick it off and swim a lap Wake the muscles from their nap Gently, steady until the end So your body'll slowly mend
Piano
Little black and white things Hit the notes and make them sing Tunes that sing a lullaby Or melodies that bid goodbye Songs that make the spirit soar Or those that tell of folklore Perhaps beats that make people prance How fast can your fingers dance?
Rest
Exhaustion from life's battle The desire to rest is great But everything is in motion Inactivity can wait
Don't be slave to inertia Let that kinesthetic spark glow Matter changes every second Keep steady and go with the flow
Wind
Sometimes a bellowing howl At times a gentle whisper Rustling leaves that sing When you pass 'round the corner
Sometimes a soothing balm Yet at times a bone-chilling shiver Strolling in the early morn Watching ripples on the river
Moon
Lamp in the sky Watching over passersby Playing hide and seek Behind playful clouds it peeks
Sometimes a half-eaten cake Reflected on a glassy lake Sometimes a Cheshire smile Casting its gaze over miles
What Matters Most
It matters not that you fear heights Or lose your material delights It matters not that you grow old Or that you have a lack of gold
What matters is your consciousness Will it be hard work or plain laziness? What matters are the skills you learn That your worldly ignorance may burn
Antidote
Forget the numbing pain It'll just drive you insane Remember the notes instead Sing the melody in your head
Forget the raging anger Flowing mighty as a river Instead remember harmony A step closer to Divinity
Move Forward
Because You love me I will get up again Face the world's challenges And rise above the mundane
Because You love me I will remember Your Light Though the darkness is deep I will stand and fight
Time
There is always time To smell the flowers To gaze at the starry sky For endless hours
There is always time To read a book Absorbing the words Under a willowy nook
Glory
How glorious Your creation is Even the birds sing of bliss Flowers bloom everyday Their scent wafting away The stream happily singing Carrying fish overflowing Above the clouds loftily float Casting shade like a woolly coat
Fire
It shifts, shapes and molds Transforming everything it holds Nothing remains stagnant Changes are inevitably constant Transmute our weaknesses Into strengths and wellness How do we keep it burning? Do good deeds inspiring
Rare Blooms
White and red petals intertwine Lily and Christmas vine entwined Slender spathe pure and white Highlight of the afternoon's delight Red stars beautifully weave Accent on vibrant leaves Indeed a rare combination A witness to God's creation
Poisoned
Poison inside the body Filled with all things worldly Subservient to the senses Looking through clouded lens Aimless lives until the end Ignorance and suffering blend Cleanse the body and be free Heed the whisper of spirituality
