Diligence
Ahh... this physical body so stubbornly indolent
What's good for him, he deliberately prevent
Luckily, the Teacher is innately persistent
To save the inner man in the body, a resident.
Various strategies the Teacher implement
Parental advice, admonition or encouragement
Prod this earthly being to be diligent
Training thoughts and emotions toward enlightenment.
It's hard labor to develop sound judgment
Which path to tread to become an initiate
Only in human body can attain fast ascent
With diligence, evolution need not stagnate.
Although driven, why does man procrastinate?
Hesitate to employ best faculties until it's late
Left alone without a Teacher, man lingers
Our diligence we owe to the Great Masters.
